Imagine Nation ELC: The Three S’s of CX; AI and Zero Trust; and It All Starts with Data

In late October, ACT-IAC hosted its Imagine Nation ELC conference, which brought together the government technology community to discuss key challenges and solutions for advancing the power of government IT.

From Federal Chief Information Officers, Chief Data Officers, CX Directors, and other Federal IT leaders, the event featured keynote addresses from the top technology minds in all of government.

The Makpar team had the privilege of attending Imagine Nation ELC and came back with several themes and takeaways that provide a glimpse into current and future government IT priorities.

Here are the key themes highlighted at the conference that we believe resonate with our clients:

  • The Three S’s of CX is Still a Priority: At last year’s ACT-IAC CX Summit, Martorana highlighted the three S’s of government CX – which are Simple, Seamless and Secure. This topic was very much top-of-mind at this year’s Imagine Nation ELC, where this approach should be the foundation of any new CX-driven effort for government.

  • It All Starts with Data: It is clear that data is the foundation of all government IT efforts, and we need more “healthy friction” where all stakeholders bring something to the table for creating data governance and data models. IT essentially generates data for digital transformation efforts, while also using data for balancing functional needs with legislative and strategic value. Data is also important for evaluating the enterprise to create the “connective tissue” between disparate systems.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Zero Trust: Along the lines of connective tissue, we will be seeing artificial intelligence (AI) playing a bigger role in helping agencies gain greater insights from its data while also meeting Zero Trust mandates. AI can generate an informed narrative for granting or denying resource access – serving as the policy gatekeeper around the data. AI also enables the creation of dynamic policies.

  • Need for Diversity of Talent and Innovation: Government is pushing for more diversity of talent, ideas and innovation for advancing all IT modernization efforts. This will require re-shaping of the current workforce as well as recruiting, hiring, and retaining the workforce of the future.

All of the panelists offered great insight into addressing current federal challenges, while brainstorming innovative approaches to service delivery and modernization. We commend ACT-IAC on a great conference and look forward to next year’s conference!

The Makpar team also attended ACT-IAC’s CX Summit 2023, as well as the 2023 FDA Digital Transformation Symposium. In the coming weeks, we will be publishing key insights and takeaways from these important events as well.
