Federal CIO: Accelerating IT Modernization and Customer Experience in 2023

In March 2021, Clare Martorana was appointed as the Federal Chief Information Officer. Since then, she has played a significant role in bringing the value of IT to the forefront of government, while also advancing cybersecurity guidance around the Zero Trust strategy.

Martorana recently sat down with Federal News Network’s Jason Miller and reflected back on her successes in 2022, and shared her priorities for 2023.

With regards to 2022, she highlighted the key focus on cybersecurity around the advancement of Zero Trust, the evolution of the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF), as well as put a spotlight on customer experience (CX).

For 2023, Martorana is focused on enhancing collaboration in the IT community and breaking down silos to accelerate IT modernization and further propel CX in government. She also wants to ensure that government maximizes the impact of every IT investment.

Advancing government CX falls squarely into Makpar’s vision for 2023.

Last year, MakNuAx, a SBA-approved Joint Venture (JV) between Makpar and NuAxis Innovations, was awarded a $115 million CX-driven contract to provide enterprise service desk support services for the Department of Labor (DoL).

In addition, Seema Khan, CEO of Makpar, authored a Government Computer News (GCN) guest article about why the CX journey matters for government, which also highlights key CX successes at the IRS and HHS. The article also provided guidance for how other agencies can get started on their CX journeys.

Makpar looks forward to supporting Martorana’s vision for accelerating IT modernization for CX in government in 2023.
