GSA Seeks Info on Automated and Expert Tools to Analyze Application Security 

The General Services Administration is inquiring about the government’s application security testing—the process of making applications more resistant to threats—to detect weaknesses that could be used by adversaries. 

NSA, CISA Release Compendium of Security Practices for Software Developers 

The National Security Agency, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence worked with industry to consolidate the recommendations for planning software security requirements, designing secure architectures, adding security features, and conducting source code review and testing. 

Watchdog calls on Social Security Administration to improve agile software development 

The Inspector General of the Social Security Administration last week published an audit probing the agency’s agile software development projects. In its report, the watchdog identified improvements SSA should make to its development methodology including implementation of additional quality assurance controls. 

IRS Admits to Exposing Confidential Taxpayer Information on Website 

The Internal Revenue Service earlier this year published confidential information about taxpayers on its website before finding the error and removing the data, the agency said Friday. 

State Department Watchdog Finds Major Issues with Agency Geospatial Data Compliance 

The State Department’s inspector general said in late August that the agency is not complying with records retention requirements for certain geospatial data, which could prevent the American public from obtaining maximum benefit from such information and restrict the preservation of data for historical records. 

NASA Offers More Details On $2B IT Contract for All Its Centers 

NASA intends to provide IT services to all its centers and facilities through a consolidated contract with an estimated $2 billion ceiling that it expects to put out for bid Oct. 12, 2022. 

NASA Solicits Feedback on Draft RFP for $190M NCAPS Enterprise IT Support Contract 

NASA has asked industry stakeholders to comment on a draft request for proposals for a potential eight-year, $190 million contract to provide enterprise IT services for the office of chief information technology.
