Congratulations to Fed 100 Winner: Gundeep Ahluwalia, CIO at the Department of Labor

Gundeep Ahluwalia, CIO of DoL

Hosted by GovExec and FCW, the Fed 100 represent government and industry leaders who have gone above and beyond to show how technology can be leveraged to make the government run better.

While the 2023 winners were recently announced, GovExec also published its detailed summaries of each of the 2022 Fed 100 recipients’ achievements last month. One particular government executive caught our attention, Gundeep Ahluwalia, CIO at the Department of Labor (DoL).

With a key focus on IT modernization, Ahluwalia successfully used the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) to enhance the agency’s data management and analytics capabilities – laying the foundation for a comprehensive enterprise data management effort.

Using TMF funds, Ahluwalia oversaw the modernization of a decade-old legacy system used to issue temporary labor certifications, as well as created the foundational data infrastructure to improve data quality inside and outside of the DoL.

In 2021, he also established an emerging tech branch in his department that focuses on robotic processes, while also enhancing the DoL’s cybersecurity posture with the vision of working towards a Zero Trust architecture.

In April of 2022, Ahluwalia provided more insights into the TMF projects, and also discussed the critical relationship between human capital and technology at the agency in this FedScoop podcast.

Congratulations to Ahluwalia for being named a 2022 Fed 100 winner!

Makpar supports Ahluwalia’s efforts to enhance the use of data for mission success at the DoL. Last year, we announced that MakNuAx, the SBA-approved Joint Venture between Makpar and NuAxis Innovations, was awarded a contract to provide enterprise service desk support services for the DoL.
