Employee Spotlight: Rachel Robert Jones, Project Manager

Rachel Roberts Jones.jpg

Background:

I previously was on the Federal government side. I worked at the IRS under a modernization project and then cybersecurity at NOAA. There I directly supported the IT Director and helped to build the security operations center.

Joining Makpar:

I joined in February 2018. The way I found out about Makpar is I became friends with a security guard at the lobby of my old office and we shot pool together. He told me about a company that was looking for somebody and said, "I think you'd be a perfect fit."

How have you grown while at Makpar?:

While at Makpar, I've been able to complete my Masters in Cybersecurity. I was able to put that into action in my projects at the IRS. It's been great because the client trusts me enough to recently promote me to this new Project Management position and I've been able to bring that newer cybersecurity knowledge to the table.

What drew you to Makpar originally?:

The work-life family balance, for sure. The fact that I can work remotely has been phenomenal for my family. Seema and Mushtaq have been great from day one, always asking about the kids. Very much a family environment which I appreciate.

What's your favorite thing about working at Makpar?:

Before COVID, we used to have really fun quarterly company events: the annual party, wine tasting, paint night. I love having a personal connection with my co-workers and the C-suite. I've also had chances to explore other aspects of the business, such as help Business Development with proposals. That was a great opportunity for me to learn from the inside how companies grow.

Advice to new Makpar employees?:

You really get what you put in. If you're willing to make personal connections and grow, there's room to grow. The educational assistance is a huge bonus. Take advantage of it if you can!

We are so proud to have you in our Makpar family.
Thanks for all you do!
