VIDEO: How to Foster Creativity in Government Marketing

Often overlooked in the government marketing arena, creativity can be a pivotal force that fuels business growth and innovation development. This is especially important when it comes to inspiring internal teams to embrace creativity and risks.

Fareeha Kahn, Director of Marketing and Communications at Makpar, recently participated in a “Women in Technology’s (WIT) Accelerate(her) presents” event, where she shared insights into how to foster innovation and creativity within your teams.

  • Here are some key takeaways that Fareeha discussed:

  • Create a safe environment for teams to share ideas and express themselves.

  • In even the busiest of times, give team members the time to explore new ideas.

  • Reward team members when they come up with creative ideas with public shoutouts.

  • Encourage training to help team members to grow.

  • Build relationships outside of the workplace.

  • Creativity is crucial for tackling the most complex challenges.

  • Creativity provides a competitive advantage.

  • Creativity enhances employee engagement.

  • Creativity thrives in constraints.

  • According to Fareeha, effectively fostering creativity is all about empowering, encouraging and actively listening to employees. This approach has certainly paid off for Makpar.

Much of Makpar’s marketing efforts have focused on content marketing, where Fareeha and her team often take creative risks when developing content. As a result, the Makpar website saw a 50 percent increase in web traffic in 2023 – with most of the traffic coming from organic SEO.
