World Mental Health Day: Makpar Volunteer Day 2024 Supports the Unhoused

Today is officially World Mental Health Day 2024. Hosted by the World Health Organization, this special day aims to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

World Mental Health Day is very important for Makpar, as we continually prioritize the mental wellbeing of our employees and communities.

For example, once a year, Makpar hosts its Volunteer Day, which is when the team gets together to support a worthy cause that fully aligns with the company’s core values. This year, the Mapkar team pulled together more than 200 hygiene kits for people experiencing homelessness.

While many are blessed with housing in the Northern Virginia area, there are approximately 1,200 people who are currently unhoused in the region. In addition, according to the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA), on any given night, 13 out of every 10,000 Virginians experience homelessness.

This is why providing hygiene kits is so important. These kits are ideal solutions until regular supplies and facilities are available. They can help to improve the quality of life for those who are struggling and even help the unhoused prepare themselves to find work.

The Makpar team also created colored motivational cards to accompany the hygiene kits to offer joy and empathy for those going through challenging times.

Here are some photos from that special day:

The 2024 Volunteer Day reinforces the Makpar’s vision of Uplifting Communities. Makpar is proud to provide abundant support and opportunities to help our employees grow and reach their fullest potential throughout the month.
